Melchisedek Chetima
Melchisedek Chetima, Senior Lecturer, Department of History, Higher Teaching Training College, Maroua, Cameroon, holds a Post Doctoral Fellowship at the Université d'Ottawa. His research focuses on the historical context of Boko Haram, including the parallels and differences between the period of slavery when the Mandara Mountains of northern Cameroon were a target of Muslim slave raiders and the current situation in which Boko Haram deploys its apparatus against the same region. Chetima is organizing a special issue of the Canadian Journal of African Studies on Boko Haram.Melchisedek Chetima, conférencier au département d’histoire du Higher Teaching, Training College à Maroua au Cameroun est titulaire d’une bourse de recherche postdoctorale à l’Université d’Ottawa. Ses recherches portent sur le contexte historique de Boko Haram, incluant les parallèles et les différences entre la période esclavagiste durant laquelle les montagnes Mandara du nord du Cameroun étaient la cible de chasseurs d’esclaves musulmans et la situation actuelle dans laquelle Boko Haram déploie son appareil envers la même région. Chetima prépare une édition spéciale du Canadian Journal of African Studies au sujet de Boko Haram.
